Collection of personal data

It is essentially impossible to visit our website without entering any personal data

Personal data will only be collected to the extent necessary for technical reasons to use our website, or if you wish to use certain functions offered on our website.

Please note that when using certain offers, there may be required fields which are marked accordingly. Required fields must be filled in so that we can provide the requested function. We only use required information for the purposes for which you provided the information to us. All other information is voluntary and will only be used to process your request, for statistical purposes, or to improve our offer.

We only collect, process, and use the personal data that accrues in our website with your knowledge and consent, and only for the purposes listed below:

• to process your request or contact you,
• to record your contact information using our electronic contact management system, and
• to protect our own legitimate business interests related to consulting and advising our current and prospective customers.

This data will only be shared with third parties if this is necessary to fulfill the purpose for which the user provided their personal data. These third parties are likewise obligated to observe the user’s data protection through agreements with the operator.

The webspace provider commissioned by Von Ardenne Institute of Applied Medical Research GmbH collects data about each instance of access to the offer (“server log files”). This access data includes:

• Date and time of access
• Name of web page and file accessed,
• Amount of data transmitted,
• Report of successful connection,
• Browser type and version,
• User’s operating system,
• Referrer URL (the last page visited),
• IP address, and the requesting provider.

The provider will only use the log data for statistical evaluation for the purpose of operating and improving the offer and its security.

Duration of personal data retention

Data will be erased as soon as it is no longer needed to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. This is the case for personal data from the contact form input screen and data sent via e-mail when the respective conversation with the user has ended. The conversation has ended when it can be inferred from context that the matter in question has been fully clarified.

Use of cookies

Cookies will be stored on your computer when you use the website. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your hard drive and assigned to the browser you use; certain information accrues through the spot where the cookie is placed. Cookies do not cause damage to your computer and do not contain viruses. Cookies serve to make our offer more user-friendly, more effective, and more secure. Most of the cookies we use are “session cookies.” They are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies allow us to recognize your browser the next time you visit.

Cookies that are necessary to run the electronic communication process or to provide certain functions you have requested are stored on the basis of art. 6 (1)(f) of the GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in storing cookies for optimized provision of services with no technical errors. If other cookies (such as cookies to analyze your surfing behavior) are stored, they are addressed separately in this privacy statement.

You have the option to prevent cookies from being stored on your computer. To do this, you will need to modify the settings in your internet browser accordingly. However, this may result in your being unable to use our website to its full extent.

This information is stored separately from any other data given to us. In particular, cookie data is not conflated with your other data.

Use of script libraries (Google fonts)

To display our content correctly and attractively across browsers, we use script and font libraries such as Google Fonts (https://fonts.google.com) on this website. Google Fonts will be transferred to your browser’s cache so as to avoid loading multiple times. If the browser does not support Google Fonts or prevents access, content will be displayed in a standard font.

The activation of script or font libraries will automatically trigger a connection to the operator’s library. In doing so, it is theoretically possible – though it’s unclear if and for what purposes, if so – that the operator of the respective library would collect data.

The data privacy policy of the library operator, Google, can be found here: www.google.com/policies/privacy/

Use of analysis tool Piwik

The web analysis service Piwik is used on our website. This is an open source software that statistically analyzes website visitor access. Evaluation is made possible by the use of cookies, which collect information about your use of our website. This information is stored on a Piwik server in Germany. The IP address is anonymized immediately after processing and before it is stored.

Adobe Typekit

We use Adobe Typekit to make our website look visually appealing. Typekit is a service of Adobe Systems Software Ireland Ltd. (“Adobe”), which allows us to access Adobe’s font library. In order for the fonts we use to be incorporated, your web browser must establish a connection to an Adobe server in the United States and download the respective font needed. This sends Adobe the information that our website was accessed by your device’s IP address.

For more information about Adobe Typekit, please refer to Adobe’s data privacy notice, which can be found here: www.adobe.com/privacy/typekit.html.
